We provide specialist musical instrument insurance and insurance for bands, groups and orchestras. Our products are designed by us specifically to meet the needs of our customers, we then only use 'A' rated insurance companies to ensure that you receive the best possible claims service.
Our aim is to provide you with a personal service which combines both a competitive premium and cover. Whilst some competitors compete for your business on price, often with a low introduction offer, we believe that cover is as important and must reflect your special interest and needs e.g. of a musician. Whether you select New Moon or not, we strongly recommend you look into the policy details as not all "specialist" music instrument cover is the same.
The New Moon team are musicians themselves and all are insurance experts. We attend music events around the country and support music retailers, Associations and repairers throughout the UK. We are members of the National Association of Musical Instrument Repairers and in the first 10 years of our Band Aid programme, provided support of approx £80,000 to eligible Brass Bands, with our contribution continuing to grow year on year.
New Moon Musicians Insurance was founded in June 2008 and in 2023 joined Noble Insurance Group, a privately owned group of specialist insurance providers. New Moon is a trading name of Noble Insurance Services Ltd.
Supporting the music community
The British Horn Society was formed in 1980 as a way to galvanise the horn playing community of Great Britain. Since it’s first festival in the Easter of that year, the Society has worked tirelessly to promote this majestic instrument with young people picking up the horn for the first time, to keen amateurs and seasoned professionals.
The aim of the Society, which was formed in 1967, is "To advance, provide and encourage for the public benefit the art of handbell tune ringing in all its forms". They offer our members a wide range of activities and music designed to show the many aspects of handbell tune ringing. They are a member of the National Federation of Music Societies.
The British Flute Society (BFS) is Europe’s oldest flute organisation and a membership charity dedicated to celebrating and advancing the flute and flute-playing in Britain and beyond. They support the flute community with resources and opportunities, publish an acclaimed journal Pan, organise country-wide events and festivals, host an annual Competitions series for young players, and lots more.
The British Double Reed Society (BDRS) was founded in 1988 to promote and enhance the interests of all double reed players, whether students, amateurs, professionals or teachers. The British Double Reed Society is a not-for-profit organisation established to further the interests of all involved with double-reed instruments.
NAMIR is the National Association of Musical Instrument Repairers, dedicated to promoting the craft of quality musical instrument repairs. In 2010 it was incorporated to become NAMIR Ltd. With over 250 members throughout the UK and overseas, you’re never far away from a NAMIR registered repairer.
In 1968 Brass Bands England started life as the British Federation of Brass Bands. Their aim was to support brass bands throughout the UK and help them build a strong future. More than 50 years later, we are still supporting brass bands, their members and promoting the wider brass band community.
The Independent Society of Musicians (ISM) is the UK’s largest representative non-union body for musicians and a nationally recognised subject association for music. They are financially independent with no political affiliation. Since 1882, they have been dedicated to promoting the importance of music and supporting those working in the music profession.
New Moon Musicians Insurance is proud to be a corporate member of the Independent Society of Musicians.
Supporting the Brass Band community - Band Aid
We believe our Brass Band Insurance policy provides leading cover and competitive premiums but we wanted to do more for the Brss Band community.
Following discussions with Brass Bands regarding their Brass Band Insurance requirements, we tried to understand the problems and issues which you face today. Whilst costs are always important many of the bands we spoke to told us of the problems of getting new members, retaining players and the general running and admin of a band. Some bands raised concern over the average age of their band members and the desire to recruit younger and new players.
We wanted to help. As a specialist provider of music instrument insurance we want music to remain a core feature of local life. We therefore set about developing Band Aid.
To help you develop your Brass Band we provide direct financial support back to you with the specific aim of developing your Brass Band. In the past this has typically been in the form of a payment from us to you following the arranging of your insurance policy, from April 2024 your policy will receive a discount for the same amount meaning you don't have to pay the higher amount upfront and wait for us to send you the cheque.
All Brass Bands insuring with New Moon will automatically receive a 7.5% discount, if you are a member of Brass Bands England this is increased to 10%. This discount applies each year.
We know that this won't solve all the challenges your band faces but we hope that the saving you are making will make things just a little bit easier.
New Moon are proud to be a long term partner of Brass Band England.
