Newmoon Musical Instrument Insurance

Harmonic is our musical instrument insurance product designed for professional and keen players who have higher value instruments and/or who are paid to play. It provides worldwide cover for loss, accidental damage or theft. Our standard policy rates include cover for unattended vehicle cover and a £0 policy excess. Cover can be extended to include third party liability insurance. There are also options to reduce cover on a per instrument basis to UK or premises and review policy excess options. In addition unattended vehicle cover can also be excluded on a per instrument basis. Harmonic also offers extenstions for covering additional instruments £3,500, hire cost of instruments following damage, cover for music accessories up to £750 and travel/post cost for damaged instruments  up to £250.

Natural is our musical instrument insurance product aimed at beginners, students and casual players with lower value instruments and play their instruments within a radius of 30 miles from their home/ address. It offers UK only cover for loss, accidental damage or theft. You can select whether you require unattended vehicle cover. Standard policy excess is £0. Additional extenstions include additional instruments up to £250, Hire cost following damage to an instrument up to £100, accessories up to £150 and travel/ post costs up to £50.

FAQ - Harmonic and Natural

• I am under 18 years of age - can I take out insurance? - You must be 18 years of age to enter into an insurance legal contract. The policy should be taken out by a parent or person over 18 years of age. The policy has a standard extension which allows the policy holder to loan the instrument to another person who may be under 18 years. In a typical case a parent will insure an instrument under this policy even through it is played by their child at school etc.
• Unattended Vehicle Cover - I have a cello! Under our Harmonic policy our rates will include this cover.  You can select not to insure this risk. If you do continue with this cover the policy schedule under Unattended vehicle cover will show Yes and the policy schedule is endorsed as follows:- "Please note that we will not make any payment for damage caused to your insured equiptment or music accessories while left in any unattended vehicle unless you have taken all reasonable steps to ensure that the insured equipment and musical accessories are completely hidden within the vehicle or in a luggage compartment or locked boot and that all secruity measures on the vehicle are put into full and effective operation." -  Unlike many other insurers we have tried to reflect in our cover that your instrument may be larger than a glove compartment/ boot. You need to activate any vehicle secruity measures but there is no requirement for your vehicle to have an alarm. But if an alarm is fitted it must be activated.
• I need to leave my instrument in school   -  As long as you are within your policy Geographical Limits e.g. UK it is acceptable for you to keep your instrument at school.
• Admin Charges - do you have any charges as my current Insurer may charge me? Simple.... NO. The price we quote is the annual price. Our quoted price at inception/ renewal includes a policy set up fee which we show seperately on your schedule but this is included in the price we quote you. There are no additional fees. If you add an instrument the only amount you pay is the additonal risk premium. If you change an address there is no charge or admin fee.

Music Teachers Liability

Newmoon are able to provide liability cover for music teachers working from home. Where your income is from home teaching is below £20,000 we can combined your liability requirements with a household policy. Above this level we issue seperate liability policy.
