Band Aid - Brass Band Support from Newmoon 

We are delighted to introduce you to Band Aid.

Newmoon wanted to look at how we could best support Brass Band. Whilst we believe that we have leading policy cover and competitive premiums we wanted to do more. Following discussions with Brass Bands we tried to understand the problems and issues which you face today. Whilst costs are always important many of the bands we spoke to told us of the problems of getting new members, retaining players and the general running and admin of a band. Some bands raised concern over the average age of their band members and the desire to recruit younger and new players.

We wanted to help and as a specialist provider of music instrument insurance, it is in our long-term interest that bands are able to recruit and introduced new players to music. We also want music to remain a core feature of local life. We therefore set about developing Band Aid.

Band Aid is a long-term package of support to Brass Bands. As you would expect from an insurance provider we provide comprehensive cover for the bands needs. Our Harmonic policy provides cover for accidental damage, loss and theft of instruments with a £0 policy excess as standard. Cover provided by Hiscox UK a leading specialist and high net worth insurer. Our cover is extended to include instruments in unattended vehicles and unlike some other insurers our cover applies at all times. The policy can also cover Public Liability up to £5m (which has become the standard limit for bands - but please consider if you really need this limit  - would £1m or £2m be the right limit for you and perhaps save you money?) and we expect to cover uniforms, sheet music, trailers (non RTA risk) etc. In addition we can write cover for your bands hall and are more than happy to discuss any other requirements. To help you develop your band we also provide direct financial support back to you with the specific aim of developing your band. Once you insure with us we will provide within 30 days of us receiving your annual premium a Band Aid support cheque is sent to you. The amount of the aid will depend upon the size of your band etc but is fully discussed with you at the time of your quote. The support is also long term and applies every year you remain within the Band Aid programme. You can use this money in any way that helps your band - whether its placing an advert to recruit players, buying new instruments, running training days for young players, buying music stands or even simply rewarding your current players with a lunch and a drink. This part of Band Aid supports your bands development.

Whilst we can never seek to solve all the problems a band face we hope that by taking this fresh approach we can work with bands to continue the tradition of brass in the local environment.
